Am I the Boss?
Yesterday's service at ICCM was great, the worship went well but as I keep saying, we will get there. I have a dream; I have a vision, to see ICCM worship grow to the place where our Sunday morning service will be a live worship concert...every sunday. To that end, I pray and strategize. I preached on the Amazing Grace of God and what our great God did for us in order for us to be counted worthy and righteous before Him. Its not possible for me to reproduce my sermon here. I am working on having the sermons recorded and posted online so, keep checking either here or on the church website; www.icc-mombasa.org Having said that, let's dig into two more lessons that I have been learning. I have already shared six lessons so far and therefore we move on to: 7) I am Serving God I have learnt how easy it is to stop pursuing God's will and mission and begin building a kingdom unto myself. Its easy to confuse whose church or ministry or vision I am supposed to be serving or building. When people begin to praise you and cheer you on, the temptation begins setting in and to get overboard would be a matter of time if one does not choose to give it all up to the Lord. I am not building up my church, its the Lord's. I am not pursuing my own mission; I am pursuing God's mission. 8 ) I am not the Boss This lesson relates to the one above. I have learnt how easy it is to begin to think like the boss when people seek your instructions and follow what you say to the letter where they can. Actually, somebody in church a few weeks ago called me boss and immediately it occurred to me that I had to make a choice to either be the boss at ICCM or let God. Many a pastor have gone through the same temptation. Many have learnt my lesson whereas others have failed. It might not just be in church planting but I believe that in every area of life, we need to come to the place of letting God be Lord in our lives and overcome the desire to be our own bosses or little "gods". Keep learning with me. Blessings
